About the Institute

A 100-acre oasis in south Bangalore, the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB), with its all-stone architecture, lush verdant woods and landscaped gardens provides an idyllic environment to engage in management studies, academics and learning. IIMB has world-class infrastructure that facilitates excellence in teaching, research, consulting and other professional activities.

Located in India’s high technology capital, IIMB is in close proximity to some of the leading corporate houses in the country, ranging from information technology toconsumer product companies, giving it the added advantage of integrating classroom knowledge with practical

experience.

Established in 1973, the Institute has since then built on its base of highly accomplished faculty, world class infrastructure and motivated student body to emerge as one of the premier institutes for management education and research promoting managerial excellence in the country. IIMB strives to achieve excellence through partnerships with industry, and leading academic institutions, the world over. The long-duration post-graduate programmes of the Institute comprise the flagship Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP); the Post Graduate Programme in Software Enterprise Management (PGSEM); the Post Graduate Programme in Public Policy and Management (PGPPM); the one year full-time Executive Post Graduate Programme in Management (EPGP), and the Fellow Programme in Management (FPM), which is a doctoral programme. As such, IIMB offers courses relevant for each of the three segments of the managerial hierarchy. All these programmes are very highly rated and IIMB alumni occupy senior managerial and academic positions across the globe.

Further, the Executive Education Programme (EEP) caters to a wide variety of organizations in government, the public and private sectors and non-governmental organizations, with open and customized programmes ranging from two days to one year. The International Masters Program in Practising Management (IMPM), an international collaborative executive education program jointly offered by IIMB with INSEAD, McGill University, Lancaster University and a consortium of Japanese universities is globally recognised as a major innovation in executive education. The N.S. Raghavan Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning (NSRCEL) at IIMB also offers courses for entrepreneurs and owners of family businesses.

IIMB has always been a hub of innovative activity and is continuously on the lookout for opportunities to collaborate with the industry as well as other academic institutions the world over. Innovation and research at the Institute has been given a fillip with the establishment of Centres of Excellence in various areas ranging from Public Policy and Corporate Governance to Insurance to Financial Markets and Risk Management. The N.S Raghavan Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning is a catalyst for entrepreneurial activity and a well-known incubation centre for startup ventures.

A feature that sets IIMB apart from other B-schools is the carefully selected mix of students with diversity as a stated objective so that students can leverage from each other’s experience in addition to theoretical studies in the classroom, thereby creating a truly enriching learning experience. Post-Graduate Programme in Management (PGP)
The two-year PGP, leading up to a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) is the flagship programme of IIM Bangalore. It is designed to equip students with the skills and capabilities that will enable them to reach responsible global positions in management. The PGP revolves around the principle that world-class business leaders are not mass-produced; they are nurtured and developed with personalized care and attention, in small work groups and teams, and in a practical, application-oriented, user-friendly environment.


Post Graduate Programme in Software Enterprise Management (PGSEM)
The PGSEM endeavours to provide the most current executive general management education to middle and senior professionals of the software and information technology industry who seek to pursue a career in management.


Post Graduate Programme in Public Policy Management (PGPPM)
Catalyzed by the Government of India and United Nations Development Programme the PGPPM is packed with path breaking insights about winning policy making and management strategies. It offers participants global exposure through tie-up with Syracuse University, USA.


Executive Post Graduate Programme in Management (EPGP)
The EPGP is an intensive one-year, full-time programme designed to enhance skills and capabilities essential for responsible positions at senior management levels. Challenging, widespread and globally oriented, this objective of this programme is to produce future leaders who can handle the dynamic corporate environment.

The Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) is the doctoral programme of Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB).The FPM at IIMB is globally recognized, and is a premier source of rigorous, and inter-disciplinary research in all areas of business management and public policy including, corporate strategy and policy, economics and social sciences, finance and control, marketing management, organization behaviour and human resources management, production and operations management, quantitative methods and information systems, public systems, and public policy. The programme is committed to training individuals who will excel in their area of research through publication quality work of international standard.

The Mission of the FPM at IIMB is to:
    Provide rigorous, world-class, inter-disciplinary training in all areas of business management and public policy that will equip students with the ability to conduct cutting edge, publication quality research of international standard.
    Contribute to the creation and transmission of knowledge in all areas of business management and public policy with emphasis on issues faced by firms and organizations in India.
    Contribute to the efforts of IIMB faculty in the creation, transmission, communication, and application of knowledge in all areas of business management and public policy.
    Help meet the teaching and research manpower needs of academia and industry by producing highly skilled individuals with exceptional analytical ability and training in conducting specialized research.

Executive Education Programmes

Overview

IIMB's Executive Education is aimed at broadening the outlook and strengthening the skills of practicing managers across the globe to prepare them for the changing roles changing world. Participants also obtain valuable insights from extensive interaction with IIMB Campustheir counterparts from other organizations on developments on management concepts and its applicability in the new global context.

Traditional Management hierarchies are crumbling as more dispersed and virtual organizations become the norm. Global markets & supply sources are affecting every organization, irrespective of size across industries. The intellectual content of work is changing dramatically. Organizations are striving to improve on their reaction time, the quality of products/services, and their real cost in response to intense competitive pressure; managing horizontally across all the organizational functions is demanding new skills. The needs of all stakeholders-employees, customers, suppliers, government, the community and the environment, are affecting business decisions. IIMB is responding to these requirements by preparing managers for the accelerating impact of technology on business and the changes in the competitive environment.

Executive education programmes are designed for honing the skills of executives and organizations and are not part of the diploma programmes of IIMB.

The Executive Education Programmes comprise:

    Open Programmes are anchored on faculty research and expertise across various disciplines of management and draw participants from different organisations. This consists of both short and long duration programmes.
    Customized Programmes offered by the Institute are designed/customized  to meet the specific needs of organizations.
    International Programmes are offered for the benefit of global practicing managers, in collaboration with top international B-schools and universities.

Hostels
The spacious, beautiful and well maintained hostel blocks provide single room accommodation to all students.

The Library
Spacious and extremely well stocked the library is regularly updated with the latest journals and newsletters. It also provides access to online databases like Bloomberg. Its services are subscribed to by working professionals too.

Computing Facilities
IIMB is the only fully Wi-Fi enabled campus amongst comparable institutes. The Computer Centre is available for use 24 hours. Printer facility is provided in the computer centre as well as in the hostel blocks. High speed Internet, highly resourceful intranet, sharing software, and internal messenger make all work easier and quicker.

Sports Facilities
With a strong focus on overall development of the student's personality, IIMB has robust sporting infrastructure. This includes facilities for tsepak, soccer, cricket, tennis, basket ball, volley ball, throw ball, badminton, indoor games etc. These facilities have had a role to play in the institute having a strong sporting culture.

Music Room
A state of the art music room with good acoustics, electric guitars, bass, amps and a Tama drum-kit is a delight for all music lovers and players.
